May 1, 2023:  The Burleigh County Commission created a Home Rule Charter Committee to draft a resolution for sales tax.

November 8, 2022:  Voters approved a new Burleigh County Home Rule Charter to allow the County Commission and residents to adopt ordinances.

June 10, 2014:  Voters adopted the Burleigh County Home Rule Charter which included funding the Burleigh Morton Detention Center through a half-cent sales tax.
