Apple Creek Road Reopened

Apple Creek Road between 66^th St SE and 80^th St SE will be reopened Wednesday, September 16, 2026 at 5:00 pm.

Apple Creek Bridge Update

Beginning September 21, the existing bridge approximately ½ mile east of 80th Street SE will be removed and replaced with triple box culverts. A stream diversion will also be installed.

🚧 A detour will be required while the bridge is removed and the new culverts are installed. Access across Apple Creek will not be possible during this work.

The contractor anticipates completing the bridge project by October 23, weather permitting.

80^th St NE Construction

Beginning Monday, September 21, 2026 at 7:00 am, the NDDOT & Central Specialties, Inc. will begin construction on 80^th St NE near the I-94 Bridge and continue through the week.  Construction will include an asphalt mill and overlay.  Flaggers will be present to direct traffic.  Please expect delays and plan accordingly.

APPLE CREEK ROAD UPDATE

APPLE CREEK ROAD PROJECT UPDATE

Work continues on Apple Creek Road, with several segments moving into the final stages of construction.

Current Work – 66th Street SE to 80th Street SE

• The final asphalt layer has been completed.
• Crews are working on the roadside slopes and will continue for approximately the next two weeks, weather permitting.
• Once complete, crews will add topsoil, seed and mulch the areas.
• The roadway will then be cleaned and striped before this segment opens to traffic.

Work Beginning September 14

• 66th Street SE area: Milling will begin the morning of September 14, followed by paving beginning September 15.
• 80th Street SE area: Milling will begin the afternoon of September 14, followed by paving after the adjacent segment is completed.
• 80th Street SE to County Road 10: Milling and paving will follow the completion of the above work.
• Traffic impacts: Flaggers and a pilot car will be used during milling and paving operations. Please expect delays and allow extra time when traveling through the work zone.

Apple Creek Rd & 80^th St SE Construction

Beginning Monday, August 31, 2026 at 7:00 am, construction will be done on Apple Creek Road and 80^th St SE in three segments.  First segment:  Apple Creek Rd starting at the intersection of 66^th St SE and continue to the west approximately 1,300 feet.  Second segment:  Apple Creek Rd starting at 80^th St SE and continue to the east to the Apple Creek bridge.  Third segment:  80^th St SE between Highway 10 and Apple Creek Rd.  Construction will include a mill and overlay.  Flaggers and pilot cars will be in place throughout construction.  Anticipated project completion date is September 18, 2026, weather dependent.  Please expect delays and plan accordingly.

Update:   Apple Creek Rd between 66^th St SE and 80^th SE remains closed until construction is complete.  The top lift of asphalt will begin Monday, August 31, 2026.  Crews will continue to add side-slope material and topsoil along both sides of the roadway once the top lift of asphalt is finished.  A signed detour remains in place.  Thank you for your continued patience!

Morton Township Construction

Apple Creek Road Construction Update

Apple Creek Road between 66th St SE and 80th St SE remains closed due to extra repairs.  Final grading has wrapped up and base-lift asphalt paving is scheduled to begin Tuesday, August 4^th and is expected to be finished by the end of the day on August 5^th (weather permitting).  After the base layer is in place, crews will add side-slope material and topsoil along both sides of the roadway.  The top lift of asphalt and chip seal are anticipated to be applied during the last week of August, again dependent on weather.  Once final surfacing is complete, the roadway will be reopened to traffic.  A signed detour remains in place.  Thank you for your patience as we work to improve the area!

Apple Creek Road Construction

Beginning Monday, June 22, 2026 at 7:00 am, Apple Creek Road will be closed between 66^th St SE and 80^th St SE for road construction.  Construction will include asphalt milling, cement treated base, and overlay. Apple Creek Rd will be closed to through traffic with access for local residents only.  A signed detour will be in place for all through traffic.  Projected completion date is July 3, 2026, weather dependent.  Please expect delays and plan accordingly. Burleigh County and its participating communities (Lincoln, Regan, Wilton, and Wing) have received formal approval of the updated Burleigh County Multi-Hazard Mitigation Plan (MHMP) from the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) and the North Dakota Department of Emergency Services. The plan, led by Emergency Management Director Mary Senger, is approved for the five-year period of April 29, 2026, through April 28, 2031. It identifies key hazards, assesses risks, and outlines projects to help communities better prepare for, withstand, and recover from disasters.

Why the Plan Matters

The Multi-Hazard Mitigation Plan represents a proactive approach to reducing risk. Studies show that every $1 spent on pre-disaster mitigation saves society an average of $6 in future disaster costs. The plan helps prioritize limited resources, raises awareness of local risks, and identifies potential projects to build long-term community resilience.

 Access to Grant Funding

An approved MHMP is a critical requirement for accessing multiple federal hazard mitigation grant programs which makes Burleigh County and its partner communities eligible for significant FEMA and state funding opportunities.
