Work continues on Apple Creek Road, with several segments moving into the final stages of construction.
Current Work – 66th Street SE to 80th Street SE
The final asphalt layer has been completed.
Crews are working on the roadside slopes and will continue for approximately the next two weeks, weather permitting.
Once complete, crews will add topsoil, seed and mulch the areas.
The roadway will then be cleaned and striped before this segment opens to traffic.
Work Beginning September 14
66th Street SE area: Milling will begin the morning of September 14, followed by paving beginning September 15.
80th Street SE area: Milling will begin the afternoon of September 14, followed by paving after the adjacent segment is completed.
80th Street SE to County Road 10: Milling and paving will follow the completion of the above work.
Traffic impacts: Flaggers and a pilot car will be used during milling and paving operations. Please expect delays and allow extra time when traveling through the work zone.
Apple Creek Bridge Beginning September 21, the existing bridge approximately ½ mile east of 80th Street SE will be removed and replaced with triple box culverts. A stream diversion will also be installed.
🚧 A detour will be required while the bridge is removed and the new culverts are installed. Access across Apple Creek will not be possible during this work.

Apple Creek Rd & 80th St SE Construction
Beginning Monday, August 31, 2026 at 7:00 am, construction will be done on Apple Creek Road and 80th St SE in three segments. First segment: Apple Creek Rd starting at the intersection of 66th St SE and continue to the west approximately 1,300 feet. Second segment: Apple Creek Rd starting at 80th St SE and continue to the east to the Apple Creek bridge. Third segment: 80th St SE between Highway 10 and Apple Creek Rd. Construction will include a mill and overlay. Flaggers and pilot cars will be in place throughout construction. Anticipated project completion date is September 18, 2026, weather dependent.Please expect delays and plan accordingly.
Update: Apple Creek Rd between 66th St SE and 80th SE remains closed until construction is complete. The top lift of asphalt will begin Monday, August 31, 2026. Crews will continue to add side-slope material and topsoil along both sides of the roadway once the top lift of asphalt is finished. A signed detour remains in place. Beginning Monday, August 24th, 2026 at 7:00 am, 71st Ave NE will be closed between Centennial Rd and Aleutian Dr for road construction. Construction will include asphalt milling, cement treated base, and overlay. 71st Ave NE will be closed to through traffic. Beginning Monday, August 10, 2026 at 7:00 am, construction will begin on Moffit Road between 158th St SE and Highway 83.Construction will include a mill, overlay and chip seal. Apple Creek Road Construction Update
Apple Creek Road between 66th St SE and 80th St SE remains closed due to extra repairs. Final grading has wrapped up and base-lift asphalt paving is scheduled to begin Tuesday, August 4th and is expected to be finished by the end of the day on August 5th (weather permitting). After the base layer is in place, crews will add side-slope material and topsoil along both sides of the roadway. The top lift of asphalt and chip seal are anticipated to be applied during the last week of August, again dependent on weather. Once final surfacing is complete, the roadway will be reopened to traffic. A signed detour remains in place. Thank you for your patience as we work to improve the area!
Beginning Tuesday, July 28, 2026 at 7:00 am, BEK Communications will be performing utility work along River Road between Wilderness Cove Rd and the north leg of Burnt Creek Lp. Flaggers will be in place to direct traffic. Work is anticipated to be complete by end of day on Friday, August 7, 2026, weather dependent. Please expect delays and plan accordingly.
